Tiko and Toto: The Carrot Hero

A story about why bunnies (and kids) need bright eyes.

There were two best friends in the Green Wood.

Tiko was a white bunny. He was sweet, but he had a problem. He could only see things that were very, very close. He wore little round glasses, but faraway things still looked like fuzzy blobs.

Toto was a brown bunny. He could see everything—near, far, small, big… everything!

One sunny morning, Tiko and Toto were playing hide-and-seek.

Suddenly, the ground shook.

(low growl sound)
“Grrrrrrrr…”

Toto’s ears stood up straight. He looked far into the bushes. He saw a golden tail twitching.

“That’s Brutus the Lion!” Toto shouted. “Run, Tiko! Run!”

Toto jumped quickly into a safe hole under a bush.

But Tiko couldn’t see the hole. The path looked blurry. The bushes looked like green clouds.

“Help!” Tiko cried. He tripped over a root.

(stumble sound)
“Thump!”

Brutus the Lion was getting closer.

Just in time, Toto reached out his paw. He grabbed Tiko and pulled him into the dark hole.

“Shhh!” whispered Toto.

They waited. Brutus sniffed the air. But he couldn’t find them. He grumbled and walked away to find breakfast somewhere else.

🥕 The Orange Secret

When it was safe, Tiko wiped his tears.
“Why can’t I see like you?” Tiko asked sadly. “I almost got eaten because I couldn’t find the hole.”

Toto smiled and handed him a bright, crunchy vegetable.

“Because you don’t eat your Magic Power Food,” Toto said.

“What is it?” asked Tiko.

“Carrots!”

From that day on, Tiko didn’t just play. He ate.

(crunching sound)
“Crunch… Crunch… Snap!”

He ate carrots for breakfast. He ate carrots for snacks.

Weeks went by.

One morning, Tiko woke up and looked out the window.

Wow!” he gasped.

He could see the dew on the grass.
He could see the bright blue sky.
He could even see a tiny ladybug on a leaf far away!

His eyes felt strong. His glasses stayed on the table.

Tiko hopped over to Toto’s house. “Toto! Look! I can see everything!”

Toto laughed. “Now we can play tag… and you will never trip again.”

The Lesson: Healthy food isn’t just “good for you”—it gives you superpowers (like seeing dangers and running fast!).

Try This: Next time you serve carrots or veggies, call them “Tiko’s Vision Snacks” and ask your child if they can spot something far away after eating one!
