Story
In the middle of the jungle stood an old banyan tree.
It was huge, with long hanging roots and thick branches. No animals went there at night because strange sounds always came from the tree.
Hooo… hoo… creak… whisper…
One evening, Bobo the monkey came running.
“I saw something moving inside the old banyan tree!” he said. “I think the tree is haunted!”
Milu got scared.
“I don’t want to go there.”
But Chintu said, “Maybe it’s not a ghost. Maybe it’s a secret.”
Sheru stood up and said, “We will go together. When friends are together, nothing is scary.”
So that night, Sheru, Chintu, Milu, Bobo, and Raju went to the old banyan tree.
The wind blew, and the long roots moved like ropes.
Hooo… creak…
Suddenly, two glowing eyes appeared inside the tree.
Milu hid behind Raju.
Bobo climbed up Sheru’s back.
Chintu whispered, “Don’t move…”
Then a voice came from inside the tree:
“Who is there?”
Sheru walked forward slowly. “We are the animals of this jungle.”
From inside the tree came Ullu the Owl. He flew down quietly and sat on a branch.
“You all think this tree is scary,” Ullu said,
“but this tree is actually the safest place in the jungle. Many small birds and animals live inside this tree.”
Everyone looked around carefully. They saw small nests, tiny holes, and little animals living safely inside the big tree.
“This tree is not haunted,” said Chintu.
“It is a big house!”
Ullu smiled and said,
“Sometimes old things are not scary. They are just full of stories.”
From that day, the animals were not afraid of the old banyan tree anymore.
They called it The Tree of Secrets, because it protected many small animals.
The Lesson
